REAL IMAGES

Why do travelers go to Ha Tien instead of more famous beach towns?

Ha Tien offers a quiet coastal vibe, limestone hills, and unique cultural mix near the Cambodian border. It’s ideal for travelers seeking off-the-beaten-path scenery, local markets, and a gateway to Phu Quoc or Kep.

Yes. Ha Tien has an international land border with Prek Chak in Cambodia. You can take a tuk-tuk or taxi to the checkpoint, then continue to Kampot or Kep. Bring your passport and check visa requirements in advance.

There are buses from both cities—8 hours from Ho Chi Minh and 5 hours from Can Tho. No flights or trains serve Ha Tien, so plan for overland travel. Some routes offer connections to Phu Quoc via ferry.

Ferries depart regularly from Ha Tien port to Phu Quoc, taking about 1.5–2 hours. Book in advance during weekends or holidays. It’s a more budget-friendly option than flying from Ho Chi Minh City.

It’s still quite local. English is limited, especially outside hotels. There are a few riverside cafes and seafood spots, but don’t expect resort-style tourism. It’s perfect if you enjoy slow travel and cultural discovery.
